Sunset Waves Attack
|
I was on the southernmost point on the island, a plateau
called Seroe Colorado. If you hike
down the far side of the plateau, you can see this natural bridge. It’s very cool, and as you can see, very
picturesque. There will be more
pictures of this bridge in the future, you can count on that.
I played in this area for a while, walked over the
bridge, took a bunch more pictures, and then hiked back up to the top of
the plateau.

As you can see in the picture above, the waves crash up
over the cliffs onto the table. As
the water recedes, it creates a beautiful waterfall.
|
From the top of the plateau, looking up the east coast
of the island stretches one of the most interesting terrains I’ve ever come
across.
I’d never seen anything like it, so of course, I wanted
a closer look.

In order to fully understand what happens next, you need
to watch the video:

|
While I was being dragged by the wave, I managed to take
a picture:
As you can see, the water not only crashed on the cliff
beside me, but it completely surrounded me.
Although I’m joking around on the video, it actually
really freaked me out. I was by
myself, and the next two days were national holidays. Had I been dragged into the water, nobody
would have even known I was gone until 3 days later.

No matter how scared I was, I was on a mission to get this
picture. I didn’t go through all
that just to go home empty handed. I
actually got closer to the edge, watching the waves this time so I didn’t
get hit again, and I got the picture I had set out for, but the wave was so
big and I was so close to it that you can’t tell what’s going on; it
completely covered the sunset and rocks.
Too bad. It was a
good idea.

I took this
picture as I was leaving.

I’m happy to be
alive.
